Destination Fitness..............For we are fearfully and wonderfully made! Zumba shakin, muscle pumpin, obesity slayin, runnin gal who wants to inspire you! In 2003 I stepped on the scales at work for a weight loss challenge among coworkers. Little did I know that it would change my life and my world.
I was obese and had been most of my life. My life had been a whirlwind for many years. I entered college at 18 as a single parent with a 6 month old baby. I never had enough money to eat out or buy groceries and ate whatever my mother fixed at home (as my child and I lived with my parents) or I would eat a cheap breakfast from Burger King, usually a sausage biscuit washed down with a Mountain Dew. I also frequented snack machines on days that I didn't have enough money to stop at Burger KIng. I remember digging in my car looking for change to buy Combos from the snack machine because I was too proud to tell my parents I needed money for food. I never had time to exercise because studying and caring for my son took all my time and energy. I ended college weighing over 200 pounds. At just under 5 feet tall, I weighed well over the 125 pounds that my Dr. felt I should weigh. One day I went in for a routine check-up and my Dr. informed that not only had my weight skyrocketed, but so had my blood pressure. I knew it was time to do something. So when my coworkers wanted to start a New Year's Weight Loss challenge I sheepishly joined. I now lived on my own with my son and could afford groceries. I changed my eating habits and started losing pretty quickly. Not only did I win that challenge, but I won many more. I ended up losing over 85 pounds and for the most part have kept it off for over 15 years. I am still a work in progress.....every single day. I feel your struggles and I am here to help you.
